He was called “the blue tuft” in the former Yugoslavia, which was an allusion to the blue lock he wore in his naturally brown hair. However, he conquered the music scene with his phenomenal singing. This native of Prijedor, where he still lives today, is not only a Bosnian singer, but one can rightly say – a regional one, and even wider, since he often performs in Western Europe and on the continents. He has also been to Australia several times.
Halid Muslimović is a superstar and is certainly one of the best-selling and most famous folk singers in the former Yugoslavia. Regardless of the many ballads that made him famous, he is also one of the founders of the so-called turbo folk genre, which has found a place especially among the younger audience. Everyone who follows music, even superficially, knows that Halid's biggest hit is “Putuj putuj srećo moja”, which is also the name of the album itself, in 1985. It sold almost a million copies. At that time, it was an absolute record in the former Yugoslavia.
It would take a long time to list all of Halid's hits. However, we will recall some that are evergreen folk music. In addition to the already mentioned mega hit, there are: “Hej ljubavi u dalekom gradu (Hey love in a distant city)”, “Izdala me snaga (My strength failed me)”, “Piši piši jarane (Write, write, my friend)”, “Mene je učilo vrijeme (Time taught me)”, “Stranac u svom gradu (A stranger in his own city)”, “Stoj jarane (Stop friend)”… and many, many others. Almost all of his songs are hits. Since he took a longer break from touring Australia, Halid decided to reunite with his loyal audience in 2025, who always turn out in large numbers for his concerts.
